Hotel Belvédère
When you renovate the hotel do it sympathetically. It has a great bar/reception area.
The Victoria Lauberhorn, also a grand old Wengen hotel, is a lesson in how not to upgrade sympathetically.
Do not try to make it an modern, minimalist or chic: there are millions of insipid, forgettable hotels kind that all over the world, and the style will date and tire quickly.
Minimal and modern works when your location is dull — the hotel has to appear modern and cutting edge to lift it out of a drab environment. Travelodge Luton Airport? Sure, make it modern, minimalist and chic. Help people forget where they are. Let them injustice they could be literally anywhere else.
Wengen is not a drab environment. Wengen is special. Patrons should not want to be transported somewhere else. Wengen is a destination. People come here because it is one of the beautiful, magnificent places in the world. The hotel should — and the old Belvedere largely did — try to reinforce that experience.
Do make sure there is awesome WiFi, connectivity, power sources,
Play to the hotel’s, Wengen’s and Bernese oberland’s history. The jungfrau railway, theaaaa ascent of the Eiger, the descent of the Lauberhorn, Karl Molitor, and so on.
