Editing tricks
- to link to another page on the wiki: double square brackets (case sensitive).
- To link to another internet site: single square brackets:
- To redirect pages: #redirectpage
- To redirect to a different page from the word on the page, use a pipe |. Thus coolest dude on the planet displays as “coolest dude on the planet” but takes you to the jolly contrarian page.
Formatting
Formatting is a bit odd, but you get used to it. and there's a toolbar. Which you can customize. There is formatting help on the toolbar.
Categories
Tagging a page with a category by adding a category tag: . You can also use templates (see below) to automatically tag and taxonomise pages.
For example, the tag adds the ISDA category, adds a suffix ( “- ISDA Provision”) and creates a hyperlink to that page.
Version control
Every edit is kept, attributed, time-stamped and you can run comparisons very quickly between versions.
Templates
The real power of mediawiki is the templates. As to which, see the template tester page
Automation capacity
Neat little tricks to automate and pre-load templates, like so:
- Create an ISDA master agreement page
- Create an equity derivatives page
- Create a GMSLA page
