The first person plural; the obscurer of a multitude of sins; a means of vaguely claiming locus standi to weigh in on things that are not to do with you; a means of taking personal credit for things you have not done, avoiding individual responsibility for things you have and implying a weight of numbers behind what is in point of fact a singly-held view.

When the JC is not disingenuously referring to himself in the third person, we do it on this very site, for many of the exact reasons set out above.
