The capacity to put up with people, things and opinions that ''you'' don't like. It does not mean inhibiting people who you don’t like from being able to express their opinions or do things that you don't like. That's called ''in'' tolerance.

Being tolerant means accepting the world is allowed to not measure up to, or even give a hoot about, your personal standards
