{{author|Peter Thiel}} isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. Not Gawker’s, at any rate. And he tends to get mentioned in the same breath as {{author|Ayn Rand}} a lot, albeit vaguely, as some kind of disciple. It seems to me being influenced by {{author|Ayn Rand}}, or anyone, is a lazy condemnation, unless you are prepared to spell out how, and what this means in practice, so we are inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt here. On the positive side of the ledger Thiel has had his fair share of roaring successes, and while, in the short run it isn’t always easy to sort the talent from the flukes, he’s done enough to earn a hearing.
