A curious email sign off, shot through with ambivalence. Neither the robotic dispassion of a cold “greetings”, nor the overtly sexualised hot “hello there” but something unnervingly in between — a lukewarm, “dead-kipper” handshake as unpleasant to the touch as a recently-vacated lavatory seat.
