The now-deceased author of delightfully wacky seventies classic The Origins of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind - a lot more fun than it sounds - and a theory that, against all odds, seems to have a lot going for it, if Daniel Kahneman and others are anything to go by.

Also a strong influence on HBO science fiction TV thriller Westworld.[1] True.
