A place, in rock ’n’ roll, where one goes to gigs where they might play pop songs. In securities and derivatives brokerage, it is a place where willing partipants can buy and sell their financial instruments. This might be a regulated market, a stock exchange, a futures exchange, a multilateral trading facility (these days called an organised trading facility, a dark pool and so on.

A place where two can tango, so to speak.
