If you’ve made the mistake of talking about nu (ν) on a trading floor you have shown yourself to be better trained in classics than derivatives. In fairness it is a transition most derivative salespeople must make after they leave Cambridge, so you should not feel too bad about it. All it indicates is how far you have to go.
Nu (ν) is the Greek equivalent of “V”, but not the Greeks equivalent of “V”. Derivative salespeople talk about vega, if they’re being honest, and leveraged alpha if they’re not. Not nu.
