A German word for which there is no English equivalent, but which refers to the shame and disappointment (also unknown in English speaking societies) of being late to, or last to join, a conference call[1]. Späteankunftschande is counterpointed in German speaking cultures with the similarly untranslatable früheankunftfreude.
The feeling of späteankunftschande is heightened when, upon eventually summoning the fortitude to join the call, you find other participants bonding smugly over just how awful the hold music, that you missed, was.
