Annal ˈan(ə)l/ (n.)
STOP SNIGGERING AT THE BACK BLENKINSOP MINOR. Not to be confused with the adjective anal — of or relating to the the “dark passage”, as it were — the noun annal — as in “the annals of history” — is the historical record of a single year. Rather like the Blue Peter, Private Eye or Viz annual. Or the Jolly Contrarian’s for that matter.
