Nu
If you’ve made the mistake of talking about nu on a trading floor you have shown yourself to one trained in classics and not derivatives. In fairness it is a transition most derivative salespeople must go through at some point after leaving Cambridge, so you should not feel bad about that. All it indicates is how far you have to go.
Nu is the Greek equivalent of “V”, but not the Greeks equivalent of “V”. Derivative salespeople talk about vega, if they’re being honest, and leveraged alpha if they’re not. Not nu.
