Breakfast in America unexpectedly went multi-platinum and became an instant global smash on its release in 1979 and remains one of the all-time great AOR albums, despite being released against a background fashion of angry postpunk and gender-fluid new romantic synthpop. For that reason, to this very day, Breakfast in America infects millions of people around the world - including yours truly - with the delusional hope that one day, their particular dog will have its day.
