Now do I want to be “that guy” — obviously yes, I do — and point out that if ISDA’s crack drafting squad™ has restricted itself to just bitcoin and ethereum, which apparently it has, both of which are cryptocurrencies not crypto assets as such then these nascent definitions booklets are really rather misnamed.

We refer keen readers to the JC’s many impassioned treatises on the nature of cash. Cash is not, in the twilight, purblind world the JC inhabits, “property” at all in the sense it can be held, but not owned; she who holds it can therefore utter it free of any competing claim in the world. But rather a token of value that leaves behind it only indebtedness.

Assets” are not like that.
