An EU Regulation that harmonises data privacy law across the EU. It supersedes the Data Protection Directive. All those tiresome clickthroughs on websites and permissions to place cookies? You can thank GDPR for that. Largely relates to personal information, about we mortal meatsacks, and not data about faceless multinational corporate monoliths.

Not to be confused with a confidentiality obligation, or an intellectual property licence.
