The sure sign someone else is bored out of his gourd and has tuned out of the conference call. A wonder it doesn’t happen more often than it does. Which is often. Let’s take that off line.

In the meantime, hearing someone-else’s keyboard clatter is like going crazy Ivan and discovering a tailing enemy sub defenceless in your baffle. All you do is see whose mic is transmitting other than the speaker’s. You have him, and at your leisure can either (a) mute him (if you’re a nice guy) or, better still, cue up a devastating conference call ambush.

But watch out for the guy who has anticipated your move here. Keyboard clatter can sometimes be a double-bluff.
