Payment in kind
/ˈpeɪmənt ɪn kaɪnd/ (n.)
(also a “PIK”)

A kind of modern-day barter: I pay you in securities, or assets, rather than their cash value. May also refers to a financial instrument that pays income to investors with additional securities or equity instead of cash.
