A part of the United Kingdom, but a discrete jurisdiction with its own laws and courts, distinct from the laws of England and Wales. Scotish court officials have esciting names like Procurator Fiscal.

Fun fact: You cannot validly serve process relating to proceedings before the English courts in Scotland. You must serve it in England or Wales (or their territorial waters), or have your counterparty appoint a process agent.
