Well, you would inspire them by showing them how amazing you were, if you were amazing, but — let's face facts here — statistically speaking, it is almost certain you're not, so rather than aggravating them with your mediocrity, it’s better to make them think they’re amazing instead.

Now, it is highly likely they *won't* be amazing either — they’re reading your crappy LinkedIn post, after all, so that should give you some sense of it — but a feature of mediocrity is gullibility and wilful self-delusion, so they'll probably believe you anyway, and even if they don’t, most people still like to be told they’re amazing, however implausible or disingenuous it may obviously is to tell them that.
