The members of the European Union (EU), all of whom are also part of the EEA, are:
- Austria
- Belgium
- Bulgaria
- Croatia
- Cyprus
- Czech Republic
- Denmark
- Estonia
- Finland
- France
- Germany
- Greece
- Hungary
- Ireland
- Italy
- Latvia
- Lithuania
- Luxembourg
- Malta
- Netherlands
- Poland
- Portugal
- Romania
- Slovakia
- Slovenia
- Spain
- Sweden
- United Kingdom[1]
Notable omissions are the peripheral, non-EU, EEA countries (Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein) and soon to be the United Kingdom, a fairly random patchwork of countries in the Balkans: (Romania, Bulgaria and Croatia are in; Serbia, Montenegro and Albania are out), and of course who could forget dear, stubborn, neutral old Switzerland, which isn't even a part of the EEA, but is a member of EFTA and the single market.
