Why say “provide you with” when you mean “give you”?

Imagine, if you will, a world where:

We shall not provide you with investment advice, recommendation or suggestion of any type, kind or nature whatsoever or howsoever.

Appeared as:

We won't give you any advice.

Where would be the fun in that, hey?
