A kind of grandiose forensic throat clearing that adds precisely nothing legally, conversationally or even grammatically to a sentence, and can safely be excised in every case: the sentence will function in exactly the same way without this expression.For what is the activity of appending your name to the bottom of a passage of text for, if not to acknowledge its contents?
