Counsel

A friend in need. As they say: “a friend in need is a pain in the arse”. This is not, heaven forfend, something you’d ever say about a lawyer, of course.

Counsel is your legal advisor, and is not to be confused with (the) council, from whom you are unlikely to get an enforceability opinion. Nor, really, with a general counsel, even though one of those is meant to be a grown up version of the same thing.
